Full time student exemption
You may be exempt from paying Council Tax if:
- You are a full-time student living alone
- All adults living in the property are qualifying full-time students
Full-time Student discount
If you live with one adult who is not a student or a disregarded person, a 25% Council Tax discount may apply.
Example: A single parent lives with their adult child, who is a full-time student. The student is not counted for Council Tax purposes, so the parent may qualify for a 25% discount.
You will not normally qualify for a student discount if two or more non-student adults live in the property. To check if another adult qualifies for any other disregard, please go to Eligibility for other discounts and exemptions.
