About Blue Badges
Blue Badges help people with disabilities or health conditions park closer to their destination. A Blue Badge is not linked to a specific vehicle, it can be used by the badge holder in any vehicle, either as a driver or passenger.
Some people automatically qualify for a blue badge and other people may need to undergo an assessment to determine whether they qualify.
How long your Blue Badge is valid
A badge is issued for a maximum of three years. Badges can be issued for a shorter period if there is an earlier end date to any eligible benefits, for example Personal Independence Payments (PIP), Disability Living Allowance (DLA) or War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement (WPMS).
For children under three years old, the badge will expire on the day after their third birthday. You can reapply for a new badge 3 months before your child's 3rd birthday. The process for applying for a Blue Badge is the same for children over 3 years old.
