The council has the following aims and objectives when assessing transport/travel support:
- To ensure that learners of sixth form age, and those with learning difficulties and/or disabilities aged 19–25, are able to access appropriate high-quality education and training of their choice;
- To promote independence wherever appropriate, including the development of independent travel skills; and,
- To provide support to those who need it most, removing transport as a barrier to participation in learning.
