The Mayor of Knowsley

Each year, the elected members of the council choose a mayor for the coming year. The Mayor represents Knowsley at public events and ceremonies as well as civic events in other towns, cities and countries.

Public life

Edna was first elected to Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council in 2010 and has been a member of several committees and boards including:

  • Economic Development and Environment Scrutiny Committee
  • Halewood Area Partnership Board
  • Employment and Appointments Committee
  • Licensing Committee
  • Merseyside Fire and Rescue Authority

She also carried out the role of Deputy Lead Scrutiny Member for Neighbourhoods before becoming the Lead Member in 2014.

Edna was also elected in 2010 to Halewood Town Council representing the North Ward and she was privileged to serve the Halewood community as its Town Mayor in 2013/14. Edna particularly enjoyed visiting local schools during her time as Halewood Mayor and speaking to children about her role.

Edna previously served as Mayor of Knowsley in 2015/16, and she is thrilled to be able to serve in the role again. Meeting people from across the Borough, and seeing all the fantastic work that they do, is what she is looking forward to the most.
