The Mayor of Knowsley

Each year, the elected members of the council choose a mayor for the coming year. The Mayor represents Knowsley at public events and ceremonies as well as civic events in other towns, cities and countries.

Mayoress

Anne McGlashan, the Mayor’s daughter, will be the Mayoress for 2024-25. Anne has been a resident of Knowsley all her life. She is a loving mother and grandmother of three children and seven grandchildren.

Anne attended St. Aloysius Primary School, and Parkway Comprehensive Secondary School. Anne then went onto Mabel Fletcher Technical College/Roby College and then continued her education later in life at Liverpool John Moore’s University, gaining a BA Hons Degree.

Anne has worked as a Nursery Nurse at Parkview Primary School from 1998 to 2003. Anne also worked as a Play Worker/Leader for many years for Knowsley Borough Council.  In 2003, Anne started working at Evelyn Community Primary School in Prescot as a Nursery Nurse and then went on to become a Teaching Assistant/HLTA for over 21 years, and for hopefully many more years to come as she’s not ready to retire just yet!

Anne’s hobbies include gardening, knitting and anything to do with being creative.
