Introduction
In September 2025, Knowsley Council was one of 12 Local Authorities to receive a grant from the Government’s Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) as part of the Local Youth Transformation Fund.
The Local Youth Transformation Fund aims to support local authorities to transition back to local leadership and capability on youth provision, and to provide tools, guidance and funding to improve their youth offers and empower young people in every community.
As a result, the Council has developed The Knowsley Workforce Development Fund, which will provide youth organisations with an opportunity to apply for funds to develop their workforce and achieve recognised Youth Work and SEND training or qualifications.
Through this fund, it will support Knowsley’s community and voluntary groups to contribute to the Council priorities set out in the Knowsley Council Plan 2025– 2030 as well as the broader National Youth Strategy.
The Council Plan has a clear vision of “Supporting Knowsley’s Residents to Thrive” and is focused around three key priorities: -
- Deliver effective, high-quality services and support – that positively impact the lives of Knowsley residents
- Encourage growth that benefits everyone – ensuring our communities and town centres can flourish.
- Deliver targeted support to encourage fairness and opportunity – for those residents facing the biggest challenges.
