Halewood active travel and road safety improvements

The Halewood Investment Masterplan aims to deliver £30m of investment over the coming years including improvements to walking and cycling routes across Halewood.

Under the proposals, Wood Road will benefit from an off-road cycleway running from Higher Road and through the proposed shared use path in Grace Park to Leathers Lane.

Highway infrastructure upgrade - Junction 4 of the M57 motorway, Moorgate Road and the East Lancashire Road (A580)

Following on from the consultation last year, work is about to commence on an Active Travel and Capacity Improvement Scheme on Moorgate Road and the East Lancashire Road (A580) providing a fit for purpose, high quality, resilient network for the future.

Proposed No Stopping at Any Time Restrictions - Moss End Way, Kirkby

Over a period of time, concerns have been raised with the Council over large commercial vehicles causing obstructive parking and causing safety concerns for pedestrians, as well as access issues for vehicles accessing premises on Moss End Way, Woodward Road and Acornfield Road, Kirkby.

Proposed Pedestrian Zebra Crossings - Manor Farm Road

Over an extended period of time, concerns have been raised regarding pedestrian safety whilst crossing Manor Farm Road, Huyton, specifically outside Manor Farm Shops. Currently, there is no pedestrian crossing facility outside the shops.

After reviewing the road layout, traffic flow, and the number of pedestrians crossing, it is proposed that two Zebra crossing facilities at either end of the shops are the most suitable solution and should be implemented.

Knowsley Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan

Knowsley Council wants to enable more people to walk, wheel and cycle for everyday journeys in the borough. This includes going to work, school or the shops. The LCWIP sets out the council’s long-term plans to enable growth in active travel routes across Knowsley.

School Streets scheme

In order to alleviate school-related traffic, it is proposed to create a new footpath from Twickenham Drive to the rear of St Anne’s School. This will enable more people to walk or wheel to school from that estate and reduce the need to travel by vehicle.
