Secondary School In-Year Admission
The local authority coordinates in-year admission applications for Knowsley secondary schools. You can apply through the online portal and list up to three preferred schools.
Alternatively, you can request a paper application form is sent to you by post by contacting the school admissions team.
Your application will be shared with your preferred schools, and you can expect to receive an outcome within 15 school days.
If a place can be offered and you accept it, the school will agree on a start date with you and provide any other admission information.
It is expected that your child will be able to start within a reasonable timeframe, and places will not typically be held for more than 4-6 school weeks (20-30 school days) or beyond the start of the next term, as this could disadvantage other applicants.
If a place cannot be offered, you will be told the reason why, and you will be given the option to appeal against the decision to refuse a place to an independent appeal panel. You may also request that your child’s name be added to a waiting list.
Please note: An enquiry is not an application – you must complete an application form to receive a formal offer, have a right of appeal, or be on a waiting list
If you have applied to schools in other areas and are offered more than one place, you should inform the school (s) where a place is not required immediately, as other applicants may need these places.
You can find out more about appealing for a school place here.
