Blue Badges

Blue badges are to help people who have a disability or hidden disability to make it easier for them to travel. Find out if you're eligible and apply or renew here.

How long your application will take

There is currently a high demand for blue badge parking permits. Please apply for your permit as soon as possible. The Council recommends applying for your blue badge renewal at least four months in advance of the expiration date on your current permit.

Review

  • We aim to review applications within 5 weeks of receipt.
  • We'll contact you if additional documents are needed. All information needs to be provided before we can start to assess your application.

Automatic eligibility

If you automatically qualify for a Blue Badge, we aim to order your badge within 5 weeks of receiving your application if you have provided all supporting documentation, photograph and paid the £10 fee. Once ordered you should receive it in the post within seven to ten working days.

Further assessment

If further assessment is needed by the Centre for Independent Living, you'll be contacted within 4 weeks with an updated timeframe.

Life-limiting illness

Applications with an SR1 form are prioritised.
