  • Yellow box for syringes, needles or other sharp instruments

Hazardous waste

  • Yellow bags for infectious and contaminated swabs, wound dressings, infectious human tissues , bodily fluids and bloods

This should never be put in your maroon bin as we can collect and dispose of these safely

Non-hazardous healthcare waste

  • Non-infectious dressings, plasters and bandages
  • Incontinence pads
  • Nappies
  • Sanitary waste
  • Stoma bags
  • Catheter waste
  • Excretions
  • Bed pans
  • Home dialysis waste (empty saline, glucose IV bags and tubes)

These items can be placed in your maroon bin. You may wish to double-bag this waste to reduce unpleasant smells or leakages.

Containers and bags will be delivered once the request from your medical professional has been processed.

We will not collect items in other containers. Boxes with any other colour lid should be returned to the original provider such as medical centre or hospital
