Find out about the proposed Active Travel Corridor improvement at Wood Road, Halewood and have your say here.

Around 1,300 high-quality new homes are being delivered in the area alongside significant improvements to the local retail centre, green spaces and leisure facilities.

Improvements along Wood Road will provide safer walking, wheeling and cycling routes including new signalised crossings and enhanced cycle links across Halewood to support local journeys. These measures are designed to make everyday travel easier, safer and more accessible for all users.

Proposal details

The scheme includes the following proposals:

  • New signalised Toucan crossings for pedestrians and cyclists at key locations, including outside Yew Tree Primary Academy and near the Pendleton Green / Wood Road junction.
  • Raised tables on the proposed cycleway at crossing points to reduce vehicle speeds on approaches and improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists.
  • Designated uncontrolled crossing points on all side roads to improve pedestrian crossing safety.

The project will also deliver safe, segregated cycling infrastructure in line with latest design guidance. Our aim is to create clearly defined routes for cyclists and pedestrians that provide a safe, comfortable and accessible experience for all.
