Why do you need my information?

We will use the information you choose to provide to inform the development of a supported housing needs assessment and the new local supported housing strategy. This helps us to ensure services and strategies reflect the needs of our communities.

The Supported Housing (Regulatory Oversight) Act 2023 introduced a new statutory duty for local authorities to formulate and publish a Local Supported Housing Strategy. This includes requirements to consider meaningful ways to involve current, former and prospective residents in developing and reviewing the Local Supported Housing Strategy. A wide range of partners will also be engaged with.

What Personal Information do we collect?

As part of this engagement we may collect some  special category personal data from you, however, answers to these questions are completely optional:

  • Ethnicity
  • Gender
  • Age range
  • If you have a disability
  • If you are care experienced
  • If you have experienced the justice system
  • If you have a history of substance misuse
  • If you have experienced homelessness/ domestic abuse
  • If you are a refugee/ asylum seeker
  • Teenage parents

What allows you to use my information?

Participation is voluntary and you can choose not to take part or to only answer certain questions.

The legal bases which allow the Council to lawfully process your data fall under the UK General Data Protection Regulation.

  • Article 6(1) (e) Public Task “processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official functions, and the task or function has a clear basis in law”. The relevant legislation that supports Knowsley Council in processing this information under the lawful basis of public task is Supported Housing (Regulatory Oversight) Act 2023.

The lawful basis that Knowsley Council uses to process special category personal information is as follows:

  • Article 9(2)(g) of the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), which states that processing is necessary for reasons of substantial public interest.

The relevant lawful condition under the Data Protection Act 2018 is Schedule 1, paragraph 6, statutory and government purposes.

Due to the data being anonymised, it is unlikely you would be able to retract your contribution once entered. To support anonymisation, data will be aggregated and individual responses will only be analysed if there’s more than 3 responses in a category.

Who will my information be shared with?

Data may be aggregated and shared anonymously within the Council and with partners. Raw data will not be shared with any third parties.

Do I have to provide this information and what will happen if I don’t?

Participation is entirely voluntary and not a legal requirement. You can decide whether to participate or not, and you can decide how much or how little you wish to participate.

How long will you keep this data for and why?

The anonymous data will be held by Knowsley Council for a period up to 5 years following the consultation.

How will my information be stored?

Anonymised data held by Knowsley Council will be stored on a secure electronic system.

Will this information be used to take automated decisions about me?

No

Will my data be transferred abroad and why?

No

What rights do I have when it comes to my data?

Under the Data Protection Act (DPA) 2018/ UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), you have the following rights with regards to your personal data: -

  • The right to subject access – you have the right to see a copy of the personal data that the council holds about you and find out what it is used for.
  • The right to rectification – you have the right to ask the council to correct or remove any inaccurate data that we hold about you.
  • The right to erasure (right to be forgotten) you have the right to ask the council to remove data that we hold about you.
  • The right to restriction – you have the right to ask for your information to be restricted (locked down) on council systems.
  • The right to data portability – you have the right to ask for your data to be transferred back to you or to a new provider at your request.
  • The right to object – you have the right to ask the council to stop using your personal data or to stop sending you marketing information, or complain about how your data is used.
  • The right to prevent automated decision making – you have the right to ask the council to stop using your data to make automated decisions about you or to stop profiling your behaviour (where applicable).
