Public Health annual reports

Directors of Public Health have a statutory requirement to write an annual report on the health of their population.  The report helps to inform local people about the health of their community, as well as providing necessary information for local partners on health gaps and priorities that need to be addressed.  Each year the report has a different theme.

Knowsley Public Health Annual Report for 2023/24 - Improving lung health in Knowsley

The Knowsley Public Health Annual Report focuses on respiratory diseases, which are affecting residents’ health: chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma, infectious diseases and lung cancer.

The Annual Report also looks at why some residents are more affected than others, the potential causes, and the risk factors.  Most importantly, the Annual Report looks at what is being done to diagnose and treat diseases at an early stage, and how services are contributing towards the promotion of early detection, prevention, and improvements in lung health.

The Report also outlines how work will continue across the Council and with other partner agencies to promote and improve healthy behaviours and reduce health inequalities in Knowsley communities.
