Public Health annual reports
Directors of Public Health have a statutory requirement to write an annual report on the health of their population. The report helps to inform local people about the health of their community, as well as providing necessary information for local partners on health gaps and priorities that need to be addressed. Each year the report has a different theme.
Knowsley Public Health Annual Report for 2024/25 – How stigma affects the health and wellbeing of our communities
The Knowsley Public Health Annual Report for 2024/25 focuses on stigma and the impact this has on our communities. The Annual Report details how stigma is deeply rooted in society and often has a hidden impact on people’s daily lives. Stigma worsens health inequalities and contributes to disadvantage and social exclusion. It can isolate people and create barriers that prevent people from accessing the health, social care or mental health support they need. The Annual Report focuses on the different types of stigma people can face and each type is explored through a different public health priority area. The report also looks at what the Council and partners are doing to understand and address stigma and reduce the associated health inequalities within our communities.
