Our School Meals Service is committed to continually developing and improving our menus to support a healthier, more sustainable future for our children, schools, and communities. We recognise the important role that school food plays in promoting both individual wellbeing and environmental responsibility.

As part of this commitment, we are actively exploring opportunities to increase the use of sustainable ingredients and expand the proportion of plant-based dishes available across our menus. By incorporating a wider variety of nutritious plant-based options, we aim to support climate change objectives, reduce environmental impact, and encourage lifelong healthy eating habits among pupils.

We work closely with Public Health colleagues and other key stakeholders, including organisations such as ProVeg UK and Food For Life, to ensure our menus reflect current nutritional guidance, promote positive health outcomes, and meet the diverse needs of our school communities. Through this collaborative approach, we will seek to balance sustainability goals with the provision of appealing, high-quality meals that children enjoy.

Inclusivity remains at the heart of our menu development. We are committed to reviewing and enhancing our offer to ensure that cultural, religious, dietary, allergen, and lifestyle requirements are appropriately considered. By providing an inclusive range of menu choices, we aim to ensure that every child can access safe, nutritious, and enjoyable meals that reflect and respect the diversity of our communities.

Through innovation, partnership, and continuous improvement, our School Meals Service will play an active role in supporting public health priorities, contributing to climate change mitigation, and creating a more sustainable and inclusive food culture within our schools.
