Armed Forces Covenant

The Armed Forces Covenant is a voluntary statement of mutual support between a civilian community and its local Armed Forces Community. It encompasses the moral obligation between the Nation, the Government and the Armed Forces at the local level.

Knowsley Council and representatives from a range of partner agencies signed the Official Armed Forces Community Covenant in November 2015. This ceremony reaffirmed the commitment of the Knowsley area, which was initially established in 2012 through the borough’s Local Strategic Partnership, to develop agreed priorities for in-service and ex-service personnel, Veterans, and their families in the areas of health and well-being, education, employment, safer communities, and housing.

Change Grow Live (CGL) Knowsley are an integrated recovery service providing recovery services, treatment and interventions for all individuals who have substance misuse dependency or addictions.

They offer free, confidential support for drug and alcohol use. They offer personalized treatment, including counselling, detox, rehabilitation and prescribing.

Everton In The Community

Everton in the Community provide a support network and access to resources tailored to veterans' needs.

The veteran provision is dedicated to improving the quality of life for veterans living in Merseyside with a support network and access to opportunities tailored to unique needs, focusing on health and wellbeing, social connection, and reducing isolation.

Op Fortitude

Op FORTITUDE works with individual veterans at risk of or experiencing homelessness, supporting them either into suitable accommodation or supporting them to maintain their current home.

Op NOVA

Op NOVA, delivered by the Forces Employment Charity and commissioned by NHS England, provides support for veterans who are in contact with the justice system, enabling them to access the services they need.

The Beacon Counselling Trust

The Beacon Counselling Trust (BCT) is a charity that works comprehensively in the area of mild to moderate mental health issues across two treatment programmes, which are gambling related-harms support across the North West of England and suicide bereavement support for people in the Merseyside area.

The Block Armed Forces Foundation

The Block are a registered charity based in Merseyside and specialise in delivering support to military service leavers, veterans and their families. They offer short to medium term accommodation options for veterans at risk of homelessness.

The Block is a partner of the Op Fortitude pathway.

The Poppy Factory’s Veteran and Family Services team are based regionally throughout England and Wales, offering regular one-to-one contact with veterans and their families.

They can help with CV writing, job search, support with training, exploring new opportunities, interview preparation, overcoming obstacles and in-work support.
