Annual Governance Statement
Each year, the Council’s Annual Governance Statement is reported to the Governance and Audit Committee alongside the Council’s Annual Statement of Accounts. Approved versions of the Annual Governance Statement from previous years can be found on the agenda for the relevant meeting (ordinarily the meeting held in September from 2018 onwards although, on occasion, it may be deferred to a later meeting).

Please note that Regulation 16(1) of The Accounts and Audit Regulations 2015 requires the Council to publish (which must include publication on its website) a statement:
- that the audit has been concluded;
- that the statement of accounts has been published; and
- of the rights of inspection conferred in local government electors by section 25 of the Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014 and the address at which, and the hours during which, those rights may be exercised.
As the audit cannot be formally concluded until the National Audit Office have confirmed that the audit of the Whole of Government Accounts is complete for the year ended 31 March 2025, the Council cannot yet issue this statement.
