Overview
It is a legal requirement to register a birth within 42 days of your baby being born.
You will need a birth certificate when applying for any benefits related to the birth of a new born.
You must have an appointment to register a birth at the Knowsley Register Office.
Where to register a birth
The birth must be registered at the Register Office for the district where the birth occurred.
If you are not able to travel to Knowsley Register Office you can contact your local register office to enquire about making a birth declaration.
They will gather the information needed to register a birth (as detailed above) and ask you to sign a declaration form. They will send this to us, where the birth will be registered.
