Over an extended period, the Council has received a number of enquiries regarding road safety and access issues along Hey Road, Huyton. Therefore, a highway safety scheme is being developed.
Knowsley Council has an ambitious Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan which is seeking to provide an enhanced network to enable people to walk and cycle across the Borough.
A scheme has therefore been identified to improve the safety of pedestrians along Hey Road, as there is currently no footpath at this location. It has been observed that school children are using this route to get to Lord Derby Academy, as well as other pedestrians.
The scheme will consist of constructing a new footpath, traffic calming and the introduction of a one-way system with associated signage.
