Since the initial consultation, the proposals have been updated to incorporate the proposed Grace Park development scheme. This provides an opportunity to create a more comprehensive walking and cycling network improving connections between Wood Road, Grace Park and Halewood Shopping Centre.
The revised proposals have been developed to reflect the proposed Grace Park planning scheme and provide residents and businesses with a clearer picture of the wider network of Active Travel connections proposed for Halewood.
Proposal details
The proposed works include:
- Carriageway and footway resurfacing to improve road condition and accessibility.
- Introduction of a parking lay-by outside the shops near the Wood Road / Higher Road junction to improve traffic flow, enhance pedestrian safety and provide convenient short-stay parking for customers.
- Installation of new toucan crossings outside Yew Tree Primary Academy and near the Pendleton Green / Wood Road junction to improve pedestrian and cyclist safety.
- Installation of fully segregated cycle path sections to enable safe and clear separation between pedestrians and cyclists along the south-east corridor.
- Provision of uncontrolled crossing points at side roads and access entrances within the scheme extents creating designated crossing locations for pedestrians.
The project will also deliver safe, segregated cycling infrastructure in line with latest design guidance. Our aim is to create clearly defined routes for cyclists and pedestrians that provide a safe, comfortable and accessible experience for all.
