Putting your bins out

Find out more about where to leave your bin, when your bin will be emptied, and what to do with excess recycling and waste.

Household waste is collected weekly, alternating between general waste one week and recycling the next. Garden waste is collected once every three weeks during the gardening season from March to November.

Place your bin out:

  • on the kerbside outside your property
  • with the lid fully closed
  • by 7am on the scheduled day of collection but no earlier than 6pm on the day prior to collection
  • where it can be seen easily

Your bin will be emptied between 7am and 3pm. You must ensure that your bins are retrieved from the kerbside by midnight on the same day and stored securely on your property.

Extra recycling

Extra recycling can be placed next to your grey bin if it is put in a cardboard box or clear plastic bag (not a bin bag or carrier bag).

Please make sure the cardboard box is small enough to fit into your wheeled bin, as our crews will need to place it into the bin so it can be emptied into the bin lorry.

Extra waste

Please note that extra waste left next to your maroon or blue bins will not be collected.

If you do have extra waste, please find your nearest recycling centre.
