- Education attendance and level
- Employment and benefits details
- Housing information, including whether you have moved
- Your involvement with community activities
- Your involvement with voluntary work
- Your views on your local area
- Health outcomes (including GP registration and attendance, your views on your general health, and whether any mental health needs have been identified)
- What support you have received from Local Officials
- The answers to seven self-assessment questions about your health and other topics.
We will collect this information to help the Home Office and the Council perform our legal duties to ensure you are receiving necessary support and to make sure our services are the best they can be.
We will collect the information from Council services and partners we work with including your ESOL provider, housing provider, Department for Work and Pensions (Job Centre) and schools and colleges as well as collecting your views in answer to the self-assessment questions.
We will keep the data securely for five years after your arrival date. It will only ever be transferred by secure means.
You have the right under the General Data Protection Regulation to request a copy of your information and to know what it is used for and how it has been shared. This is called the right of subject access.

Background
The UK government established the Vulnerable Persons Resettlement Scheme (VPRS) and the Vulnerable Children’s Resettlement Scheme (VCRS) to help give people like you who have fled their homes in the Middle East and North Africa region a chance to rebuild their lives in the UK.
We will be collecting information from different places to help us understand the help you have been given since you arrived in the UK and what has happened to you since you arrived.
Why do we need information about you?
The government wants to help you by making your resettlement in the UK better. We need your information to:
- help us understand how our support is helping you;
- identify what is working;
- how it is not working and what we can do to improve the delivery of the resettlement programmes.
What information are we collecting?
We are collecting information from the local officials looking after you. For example:
- English Language (Course details/level you are at)

We would also like you to answer seven self assessment questions about your health and other topics.
We may also access information held by different parts of the UK government. For example relating to social benefits, your employment, and the qualifications you and your children achieve while here in the UK.
How will this research benefit you?
This information is very important because it helps us know whether we are successful in helping you to access the services and support you need. So that we can build a proper picture, we will need to link information from each part of the Government together. This will also help us understand where things might be going particularly well and where we might need to provide extra help and support to you and to other refugees we have resettled. We will also use this information to provide better services to new refugees coming to resettle in the UK.
We are also very interested in hearing directly from you about your personal experiences, thoughts and feelings about the support we provide. This is a very important part of the picture we need to build to help us make sure we are supporting you as best as we can.
What you tell us will help us improve what we do and how we are doing it. That is why you will be asked the seven self assessment questions but you do not have to answer these if you do not want to. You do not have to answer the seven self assessment questions and no action will be taken if you choose not to.
Our information policy
The information about you which we receive in the Home Office will be used for statistical and research work and we will treat it sensitively and confidentially in line with the law. We have strict controls in place to ensure we gather only the information necessary to understand how our schemes are operating and the impacts they are having; that information about you is only accessed by named people who are trained to make sure it is handled lawfully; and that it is processed according to the written legal agreements we have in place with different parts of government and local authorities. Processes will be put in place to ensure the secure transfer, handling, storage and eventual destruction of the information we hold.
What you tell us about your experiences will not be associated with you personally, but combined with what lots of other refugees tell us to help us understand the experiences of people resettled through these programmes.
Your data protection rights
The Data Protection Act in the UK gives you the right to know how we will use the information we have about you. All our processes comply with the Data Protection Act and other relevant legislation and the National Statistics Code of Practice.
How will we protect your rights?
Data provided to the Home Office from local authorities will be used for research purposes and to make sure you are receiving necessary support. Data collected from other parts of government will only be used for research purposes. Your name and any information linking the data to you will be removed before analysis so that nothing can be linked back to you.
There will be no names attached to your data. We will ensure that no data where individuals can be identified is published.
