Knowsley Council is preparing a new Local Plan to guide how the borough will grow and change over the coming years. It will be prepared under the revised plan-making system introduced through the Levelling Up and Regeneration Act 2023 and the Town and Country Planning (Local Planning)(England) Regulations 2026.
The timetable will set out the key stages, milestones and statutory requirements for preparing the new Local Plan, it is a live document and will be reviewed regularly and will be updated as the Local Plan progresses.
Knowsley Local Plan Timetable
As part of the preparation of the Knowsley Local Plan, the Council must create, publish and keep a Local Plan Timetable up to date.
The timetable will set out when the Council propose to prepare the Knowsley Local Plan. It provides a starting point for the residents of Knowsley to learn about the timescales for preparing the Plan, as well as anyone else with an interest in preparation of the Plan.
Local Plan
The Knowsley Local Plan will provide the statutory planning framework for all planning matters including minerals and waste, for Knowsley. The Plan will include a vision for the future of Knowsley, setting out how the area is intended to change, a spatial strategy, policies to ensure local needs are addressed and allocations to deliver development to meet needs and maintain supply.
The Plan will cover the whole of the district of Knowsley, a map showing the area covered can be found at Figure 1 below. The Council does not propose to prepare any additional documents, such as Supplementary Plans, at the current time.
