Prescot High Street Heritage Action Zone (HSHAZ) Grant Scheme
The Prescot High Street Heritage Action Zone is a project that aims to restore and revitalize historic buildings and spaces in Prescot town centre. It is one of 67 HSHAZ schemes in the country and one of only 14 in the North West. The project will run until the end of March 2024 and will focus on the Market Place, the historic heart of the town.
The HSHAZ will provide grants for a range of projects, including:
- Repairing and restoring historic shopfronts
- Restoring architectural features
- Repairing historic buildings
- Improving open spaces
The project is funded by Historic England, Knowsley Council, and other local partners. In total, approximately £4 million will be invested in bringing Prescot's heritage back to life.
Prescot Townscape Heritage Initiative (THI) Grant Scheme
The Prescot Townscape Heritage Initiative (THI) was a previous project that ran for five years. It also supported the repair, restoration, and reuse of historic buildings and spaces in Prescot town centre. The THI was funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, Knowsley Council, and other local partners. A total of around £4 million was invested in bringing Prescot's heritage back to life.

At present, there are no other sources of grant funding available for historic buildings in Knowsley.
