The Knowsley Landlord Accreditation Scheme (KLAS) is a voluntary program that recognises private landlords in Knowsley who provide high-quality, well-managed housing. The goal of the program is to encourage landlords to achieve and maintain high standards of accommodation across Knowsley.
All properties must meet the following property standards
- Be free from Category 1 hazards, as defined by the current Housing Standard for private let properties in the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS).
- Meet the standards set out in the Code of Property Standards.
All landlords must agree to abide by the following management standards:
- The standards set out in the Management Code of Practice.
- Keep up to date with any legislative changes by attending newsletters, forums, and training events.
Additional requirements
In addition to property and management standards, landlords must also:
- Provide an updated list of their property portfolio.
- Keep their online details up to date.
- Ensure that 10% of all properties on the Property Register (not just their individual portfolio) are subject to an audit process on an annual basis.
- Provide certificates and arrange access for an inspection if their property is selected for an audit.
- Ensure that all dwellings meet the requirements of the scheme at all times.

The Knowsley Landlord Accreditation Scheme is free to join. There are many benefits to joining KLAS, including:
