How to vote in the Elections
Poll cards will be delivered to electors between Friday 27 March and Tuesday 7 April.
If you receive a white poll card please check your poll card for information about your polling station (which may have changed since you last voted) or visit Find your polling station.
If you receive a pink poll card this is because you have elected to vote by post for this election and details about when your postal ballot paper will be sent will be shown on your poll card.
If you receive a lilac poll card this means we have no electors registered at your property.
If you are not already registered, the deadline to register to vote at this election is Monday 20 April 2026. You can register online here or by contacting our elections team on 0151 443 2222.

Vote by post
You can apply for a postal vote online at Apply for a postal vote - GOV.UK. The deadline to apply for a postal vote for this election is 5pm on Tuesday 21 April 2026. Further information about voting by post can be found at Voting by post.
We will begin to send out postal ballot packs via Royal Mail from Friday, 24 April; therefore, we would suggest that any elector who is going on holiday from Saturday 25 April 2026 and will not return before Thursday 7 May 2026, should make an application to appoint another person as a proxy (to vote on their behalf). The deadline to make a new proxy application is 5pm on Tuesday 28 April 2026. The person appointed as a proxy must be registered to vote and they (i.e. the proxy not the elector) will need to show their photo ID before they are issued with a ballot paper (see below).

When voting in person at this election you will be required to show photo ID.
A list of acceptable photo ID can be found here. If you do not have any acceptable photo ID you can apply for a Voter Authority Certificate (VAC) here. The deadline to apply for a VAC for this election is 5pm on Tuesday 28 April 2026.
