Knowsley Council are inviting you to help shape the future of recycling in the borough by taking part in this public survey.
Our recycling rates are one of the lowest in the region and we know that a large amount of the waste thrown in the maroon bin could be recycled in the grey bin. We are looking at ways to increase the number of correct materials thrown in the grey recycling bin.
A new Recycling and Waste Strategy will soon be launched by the Council highlighting the importance of improving recycling and waste habits and explaining how we plan to make repairing, reusing and recycling easier by providing clearer signposting and guidelines to residents.
One major change coming to all residents is the introduction of a new, weekly food waste collection in addition to the regular maroon and grey bin schedule. The service will become mandatory across England in April next year.
Have your say
We are looking for your input to better understand how you currently recycle, identify any barriers and to help us shape our new waste strategy and future food waste and recycling collection services.
Residents are now being encouraged to complete a short online survey to share their views and experiences with recycling at home.
The recycling behaviour survey is open until November 20th 2025.
Councillor Shelley Powell, Cabinet Member for Communities and Neighbourhoods said:
“A huge amount of what is thrown away could be recycled or reused. Making small changes to our waste habits can have a real impact on our environment.
“By taking part in this survey, residents can help us to understand the barriers people face when it comes to recycling more and wasting less.”
“Together, we can make a big difference.”
