About Shared Lives and why it is different
Shared Lives is a model of care and support that provides innovative, small family-based support to adults with a variety of support needs.
In Shared Lives, an adult, including a 16/17-year-old, who needs support and/or accommodation moves in with an approved Shared Lives carer after they have been matched for compatibility.
In May 2019, the scheme was awarded an outstanding CQC rating.
The scheme is currently supporting 63 people. 36 of those individuals access live-in support from the scheme, 31 of whom also receive respite through the scheme. 27 individuals access respite exclusively. All those supported live-in have a learning disability identified as their primary support need as are the majority of those only accessing respite.
