Training

At Knowsley Educational Psychology Service, we are committed to providing you with the knowledge and support you need. Whether you are an educator, a parent/carer, or a professional, our training is designed to empower you and help you make a positive impact.  As a team, we have a wide variety of training, interests and experiences which we are excited to share with you. Some examples include;

ELSA 

The Emotional Literacy Support Assistants (ELSA) intervention is designed to support schools to meet the emotional needs of their pupils. It is designed to build capacity in schools by training teaching assistants to develop and deliver programs of support. 

MELSA 

Mediated Learning Support Approach (MELSA) is an evidence-informed approach designed to support educational professionals to enhance pupils' learning.

Trauma-Informed Practice

Trauma-informed practice aims to acknowledge and understand how events in a person’s life may impact on their presentation. Built on decades of evidence, it covers the theoretical and neurological basis of trauma and explores how practice can be adapted through a relational and nurturing approach to enable pupils to thrive.

Emotion Coaching

Emotion Coaching is an evidence-based approach which is based on the principles of nurturing and emotionally supportive relationships. It seeks to support the development of health emotional wellbeing and resilience within children.

Precision Teaching

Precision teaching is a highly effective strategy for developing levels of fluency and accuracy. It is mainly used for literacy and mathematical development.

Sandwell Wellbeing Charter Mark

The Sandwell Wellbeing Charter is whole school program which acknowledges a school’s commitment to the social, emotional and mental health of their pupil and staff. It is informed by Public Health England (2015; 2021)’s identified principles that are important for promoting emotional health and well-being within a school environment.
