Bulky waste collection

If you want to dispose of large or heavy items which won’t go into your household waste bin, you can arrange for them to be collected separately.

Costs

To schedule a collection, there is a fee of £24 for up to five items or £48 for six to ten items.

On collection day

Our team will collect the bulky items between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. on the agreed day. Here's what you need to do:

  • Disassemble larger items as much as possible.
  • Ensure that mattresses, sofas, and similar items are protected from the rain to prevent them from becoming too heavy to remove.
  • Place the items in front of your property before 7 a.m. on the collection day.
  • Ensure clear access to your property; please don't obstruct your driveway.

Items we cannot collect

While booking, you'll specify which items to remove. However, our collection team won't be able to retrieve items if:

  • They consider it unsafe to enter the property.
  • The items weren't left on the ground floor, and there's no suitable lift available.

If your bulky items can't be collected, you'll receive a notice explaining why they weren't retrieved and who to contact.

Using private contractors

If you hire a private contractor to collect household, garden, or construction waste, ensure they're registered with the Environment Agency and hold a waste carrier's license. Failure to do so could result in an unlimited fine.
