Specialist care

A small number of residents will need more intensive care and support during their lifetime due to complex health and care needs. In these instances, the Council will work with care providers and partners in the NHS to ensure residents can access good quality care that effectively meets their needs.

Adult provider services

Adult Provider Services provide day services, respite services and supported living services to support those people with the most complex needs in Knowsley and their carers.

Adult Provider Services also operate the Shared Lives Scheme in Knowsley, recruiting carers to provide care in their homes for disabled adults, older people and vulnerable people needing support.  For many adults placed with carers, this will be their first experience of being part of a loving family and having the independence to live a fulfilling life in their local community.

Shared Lives carers can offer:

  • a permanent home as a long-term carer
  • short break support to give permanent carers a break

Further information about Shared Lives can be found on the Council’s website.
