Progress so far

The Council has made significant progress to reach its Net Zero Carbon 2040 target. Below are some case studies which highlight this work in more detail, outlining the impact the projects have had on reducing the Council’s carbon emissions.

Kirkby Leisure Centre

Knowsley Council secured funding to decarbonise Kirkby Leisure Centre, one of the Councils biggest energy consumers. Following the decarbonisation, Kirkby Leisure Centre has reduced its carbon emissions by 77%.

Court Hey Park

Knowsley Council secured funding to decarbonise Court Hey Park, reducing costs at the site significantly and making an environmentally friendly space for the community.

Liverpool John Moores University

Knowsley Council’s Climate Emergency Team have worked closely with Liverpool John Moores University’s Discovery Internship Programme as well as providing work experience for university students to help develop green skills.
