The primary, junior and secondary school applications have now closed. Parents/carers who wish to submit a late application or request a change of preference, please contact Knowsley school admissions.
National Offer Day
Secondary school offer letters will be posted on 1 March 2017 (first class).
Primary school offer letters will be posted on 18 April 2017 (first class).
Junior school (St Margaret Mary’s Catholic Primary School) offer letters will be posted on 18 April 2017 (first class).
The Admissions Team experience a high volume of telephone and email queries following national offer dates. Your patience is appreciated and we will aim to respond to any admission related queries within 3 working days. Rather than contacting the office by telephone you may wish to send an email to email@example.com or alternatively the information below may be of some assistance.
Paper applicants: Offer letters will be posted first class to Knowsley residents on national offer day (see dates above). Please allow time for your letter to arrive (3 days) – if your letter does not arrive please contact a member of the school admissions team. The admissions team will not give out information over the telephone regarding school offers until it is clear that the offer letter has not arrived and security checks will apply (application information will only be discussed with the parent/carer).
Online applicants: Knowsley residents who applied using the Knowsley parent portal should receive an email on the morning of national offer day. A letter will also be sent in the post the same day and may contain more information than the initial email. If no email has been received, please firstly check your spam and junk folders. Parents/carers may wish to login to the parent portal using the email address and password given when the original account was created. By logging into the parent portal you should be able to see the offer status for your preferences
Refusals: Where you have been refused a higher preference your child will normally be placed on a waiting list, the waiting list will remain open until December 2017. Your letter will contain more detailed information about your right to appeal any refusal decision.
Appeals: Your letter will contain more information regarding the appeals process. If you are appealing for a school in another authority you must contact that authority and they will give you information regarding their appeal process. If you are appealing for a Knowsley school please see below for some general information. You may wish to refer to the admission booklet via the link below for more detailed information.
Primary & Secondary Academies/Church of England Primary Schools: Please contact the school directly for a set of appeal papers.
Community Primary Schools: Please request a set of appeal papers by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org stating which school you wish to appeal for or contact a member of the admissions team.

Supplementary forms for Church of England Primary Schools
Some Knowsley Church of England primary schools have a supplementary form that you may need to complete if you wish your application to be considered under certain criteria of the admission policy. These forms are available below for parents/carers to download and complete. Any supplementary form completed must be in addition to the relevant home local authority application form. Please refer to the 2017/18 Primary Admissions Booklet for more information.
If you are resident in another authority area and are naming a Knowsley Catholic primary school or a Knowsley Secondary school as a preference, your home authority application form may not request all the relevant faith information required by Knowsley schools to apply their policies. Please print off the primary or secondary supplementary form, complete and return directly to the Knowsley Catholic primary/secondary school you are applying for.

Primary In Year (Reception - Year 6)
An in year admission is when you request a transfer to another school part-way through the academic year.
To apply for a primary school transfer, please read the primary in year admissions information leaflet to help you through the process. The application form should be completed and returned directly to the primary school you are applying to. The school will then write to you to confirm if a place can be offered.
Secondary In Year (Year 7 - Year 11)
To apply for a Knowsley secondary school, please read the secondary in year admissions information leaflet, complete and return to Knowsley school admissions at the address on the back of the application. Knowsley school admissions can only process applications for a Knowsley secondary school. To apply for a school outside of the borough, please contact the relevant local authority.
Fair Access Protocol (FAP)
The Local Authority has a Fair Access Protocol the main purpose of which is to ensure that schools admit their fair share of children with challenging behaviour. For such applicants, schools may be required to admit above their Pupil Admission Number (PAN) or if the Fair Access Panel agrees; it is also possible that a school with available places may refuse admission.

Nursery class admissions
Children can normally join school nursery classes the term after their third birthday. If you wish to apply for a part-time nursery place in a Knowsley primary school, please contact the individual school directly for more information about how to apply. The Knowsley Nursery Education Provision Booklet also contains information that may be useful to you.
Apply for a sixth form college
You can apply for a place at sixth form college by contacting the school or college directly.
You may decide to education your child at home instead of sending them to school. You, as the parent or carer, would be responsible for providing a full-time education, suitable to the child’s age, ability and any special education needs. For more information please telephone: (0151) 443 5310.
