Public Health annual reports

Directors of Public Health have a statutory requirement to write an annual report on the health of their population.  The report helps to inform local people about the health of their community, as well as providing necessary information for local partners on health gaps and priorities that need to be addressed.  Each year the report has a different theme.

Knowsley Public Health Annual Report for 2022/23 - Why the Cost of Living Crisis is a Public Health issue

The report looks at why the cost of living crisis is a public health issue.  This includes; who is most affected and at risk, why living in a cold home is bad for health, how food insecurity affects health and why being able to access and afford transport contributes towards good health. The report also highlights how the Council and partners have worked together to support residents through these challenging times.

The report also makes a number of recommendations for implementation during 2023/24 to continue to mitigate against the negative health consequences of the cost of living crisis.  These will be reported upon in next year’s report.
