Adding a name to a memorial

You can request to add a name to a memorial in Knowsley. The person must have been a member of Her Majesty’s Forces, serving on duty when they died and was born in Knowsley or lived in the borough at the time of death.

What happens next

You will need to give proof of the person’s birth or residency in Knowsley to add a name to a memorial. This can be a birth certificate or census or electoral roll entry.

When the name is added, we will inform the person’s family and notify the UK National Inventory of War Memorials.

We may need to contact a family representative, The Armed Forces, the Commonwealth War Graves Commission and other organisations to check important details.

If you request to add a name to a memorial that’s not maintained by us, we’ll contact the memorial’s owners.
