Before your guests arrive

Home checks

Before your guests arrive, an officer from Knowsley Council’s Environmental Health Team will attend your property to check that the accommodation is suitable and that everything is in place for your guests. This includes:

  • Details of occupants
  • Tenure of property
  • Rooms available for guests and room size
  • Health and safety issues (such as gas safety, etc)

Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Checks

All occupants that are age 16+ will require a DBS check. This will be paid for by Knowsley Council.  In some instances, such as where the guest family includes a child, an enhanced DBS check will be required.

You will be contacted by Knowsley Council to arrange the DBS check.
