Late applications and making changes to your application

If you have missed the deadline to apply for a school place for 2024/25, you can still make a late application. Find out more here about how to apply and the application process.

Making changes to your application

Changing your school preferences

You can change your school preferences online up to the national closing date for applications. To do this, simply log back into your account via the portal and make the change directly. Once you have made the change, be sure to resubmit your application.

If you submitted a paper application, you will need to contact the school admissions team directly to request a change

Changing your school preferences during the allocation period

We understand that sometimes things change, and you may need to change your school preferences after you have submitted your application. We will only accept changes during the allocation period if there are exceptional reasons, such as a house move to another area.

If you need to change your preferences, please email the Knowsley school admissions team and explain the reasons why you are requesting a change. You will need to provide evidence of your change of circumstances, such as proof of exchange of contracts for a house move.

The deadline for requesting a change of preference due to exceptional circumstances is 26 January 2024 for secondary applications and 18 March 2024 for reception class applications.

If there are no exceptional reasons for your request to change preference, you can withdraw your original application and make a new one. You can do this online via the application portal. However, this will be considered as a late application, so please be aware that you may not get your preferred school.
