The electoral register lists the names and addresses of everyone registered to vote in public elections. The register is used for electoral purposes, ensuring only eligible people can vote. It is also used for other limited purposes specified in law, such as detecting crime (for example, fraud), calling people for jury service, and checking credit applications.
The open register is an extract of the electoral register but is not used for elections. Any person, company or organisation can buy it. For example, it is used by businesses and charities to confirm name and address details.
Removing your details from the open register does not affect your voting rights.
Your name and address will be included in the open register unless you ask for them to be removed. You can remove your details anytime by contacting us via elections@knowsley.gov.uk or 0151 443 3583.

Change your name on the register
You will need to provide evidence to support a change of name.
This will include a marriage certificate or deed poll certificate (copies only required). If this information cannot be provided, then your National Insurance Number and Date of Birth must be supplied instead to enable us to match your new name against DWP records.
