Zebra Crossing and Traffic Calming Scheme

Zebra Crossing and Traffic Calming Scheme is happening in Mill Lane and Boyes Brow, Kirkby. Find out more about the consultation and how share your thoughts with us here.

An informal consultation took place in November 2023 regarding the proposed implementation of a zebra crossing and traffic calming on Mill Lane, Kirkby. Following the feedback received, the scheme is to be progressed, and as there were a number of requests for further traffic calming to be installed on Boyes Brow, this has been included in the proposals.

During the consultation a number of residents requested more stringent traffic calming measures to be installed instead of and as well as the proposed cushions. However, it is normal practise to introduce less intrusive measures like speed cushions initially then undertake monitoring before considering if any further works are required.

It is therefore proposed that a new zebra crossing on Mill Lane close to the entrance to Mill Dam Park, as well as speed cushions along Mill Lane and Boyes Brow will be implemented.
