Residential care for children

We provide residential care for children to ensure their needs are met when they cannot live with their own family or need short-term support.

Residential care isn’t just about giving children a home but helping them develop and grow in a safe environment, no matter their needs.

Accommodation

There are four houses in the Knowsley area – two in Huyton and two in Kirkby. Two of the houses accommodate young people who cannot stay with their family for a period of time.

A further home in Huyton is a short break support service for children with a disability who are 6 – 17 years old. In Kirkby, the house is an edge-of-care short breaks service which offers weekend breaks and weekday bridging support for families.

All of the homes are subject to Ofsted inspections and in 2023, were all graded as ‘Good’.

Accessing the service

We provide this service for children and young people who have been assessed as needing residential accommodation following a social worker's assessment. The assessment is conducted with the young person, their family or carers and social worker.
