Booking your vehicle test

When applying for a new vehicle licence, you must either upload a DVSA MOT test pass certificate from an independent Knowsley based DVSA MOT test centre and then book a “Suitability Test” via the Knowsley Council web site.

Alternatively, if you wish to have your vehicle’s DVSA MOT conducted by . Knowsley Council  a Full “DVSA MOT Test” must be booked via the Knowsley Council web site.

Vehicle tests take place at the Council’s DVSA approved MOT Test Station, located on Stretton Way, Huyton, L36 6JF.

  • A Suitability Test will be conducted to ensure Licensing Compliance Requirements are met but does not include DVT Testing requirements. You will be required to submit a valid MOT Test Certificate as part of your application. This MOT Test Certificate must be from a Knowsley Based DVSA-approved Testing Station and must be no more than 28 days old at the point of submission.
  • A Full DVSA MOT Test will be conducted to cover all current DVSA vehicle test items plus the additional licensing compliance requirements. If you choose this option you will not be required to submit an additional DVSA MOT Certificate, or attend a suitability test as part of your application.

Please ensure you have fully considered these options and their requirements when you book a test. You will be required to pay the relevant fee by card. You will always be charged for missed appointments. Expenses incurred in submitting a vehicle for a test where the vehicle is found unfit will not be refunded under any circumstances.
