Civil wedding premises licence

If you'd like to hold civil weddings on your premises then you must have a licence. Find out more about applying for this licence here.

The Licensing Counter Service is now closed.

 If you're applying for a marriage venue licence, you'll need to get explicit approval from the council. We need to make sure that your venue meets all the requirements as well as a completing a consultation period before being issued this licence. 

If you're renewing an existing licence, please submit your application at least a month before the current one expires. Your current licence will stay in effect while we process your renewal.

2023-2024 licencing fee £1,265
Renewal licencing fee £698.50

Each licence is valid for 3 years.

Please request an application form by calling 0151 443 2300 or emailing licensing@knowsley.gov.uk

Please note that if your application is unsuccessful, the fee will not be refunded.
Once we have received your application, we will contact you to arrange an inspection of your premises.
