The Taxi & Private Hire Statutory Guidance consultation

The Department for Transport (DfT) has issued Statutory Guidance under the provisions of The Policing and Crime Act 2017 to all Local Taxi and Private Hire Licensing Authorities (LA’s).

This Guidance document requires wholesale changes for Knowsley and all other licensing authorities including the main highlighted matters as below:

Knowsley Council is engaging in a six-week consultation ending on 1 November 2020 with licensees and representatives. It's strongly recommended that all Taxi and Private Hire licensees and interested persons read the Department for Transport (DfT) Statutory Guidance document and respond below with relevant reasons why the Council should, or should not, adopt the guidance in its entirety.

The position is that if Knowsley does not adopt these provisions then the Council must show clear consideration of all relevant matters and the reasoning why the Council did not adopt the National Guidance, as laid out by the DfT after much consultation with the industry as a whole.

The consultation period begins on 18 September 2020 and you are invited to comment on the DfT Statutory Guidance Document by 1pm on 1 November 2020.
