The local authority is currently considering the admission arrangements for pupils entering nursery classes, reception classes and Year 7 of community primary schools and those primary and secondary academies in the borough who are adopting the local authority admission policy for entry in 2021/22.

Consultation on the proposed policies and admission numbers will open on Friday 22 November 2019 for the required six week period and closes on Friday 3 January 2020.

Please note:

  • The Authority is proposing a change to the oversubscription criteria - the removal of the previous criterion 2 (exceptional medical welfare)
  • The Wade Deacon Trust is proposing an increase in the planned admission number for both Sylvester and Whiston Willis Primary Schools – the Trust have provided a statement in relation to the planned increase and have arranged a public meeting, details of which can be found below

On this website you will find the following local authority consultation documents in relation to community primary schools and those primary and secondary academies who are adopting the local authority admission policy. Parents/carers of school-age children and relevant pre-schoolers and community groups who may have an interest are invited to submit their views on the proposals.

These documents are also available to view on request from the office of Knowsley Education Improvement Team (Admissions) – the address can be found at the bottom of this page.

Voluntary aided primary and secondary schools and faith academy primary schools are responsible for determining their own individual admission policies, these should be available on the individual school website and by request from the individual school.

Also available to view on this webpage are the Knowsley co-ordinated admission schemes for the annual allocation of reception class places and transfer from primary to secondary school for 2021/22.  These schemes give the practical arrangements of the admissions process.
