Environmental permit consultation

The company known as PTV KP Ltd, 125 Wood Street, London, EC2V 7AW has applied to Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council for a permit to operate an installation for a Small Waste Incineration Plant (SWIP) as defined in Schedule 13A to the Environmental Permitting Regulations at 12 Penrhyn Road, Knowsley Business Park, Knowsley, L34 9HY.

What is proposed?

The application is made under the provisions of the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016 (as amended) and the Industrial Emissions Directive (IED, 2010/75/EU)

It is proposed to utilise a non-hazardous solid recovered fuel (SRF) which will be treated by way of pyrolysis. The plant will have a capacity to burn up to a maximum of 3 tonnes of SRF per hour.  The process will operate at a very high temperature, following which the flue gases will enter a regenerative thermal oxidiser which will control air pollution emissions through a 10.9m high stack.
