The Sumner Art Sessions

Kirkby Gallery and Prescot Museum will close temporarily from Friday 20 March 2020 until further notice.

This is to support the Government's advice around 'social distancing' in an attempt to help stop the spread of Coronavirus. The closure will help ensure that essential council services can continue, whilst also making sure that resources can be diverted to support vulnerable residents. Online content remains available on the Prescot Museum website and Knowsley Galleries and Museums on Facebook.

These art workshops at Kirkby Gallery take inspiration from exhibition themes and subjects.

They are free, and funded thanks to the generosity of the estate of Irene Sumner. Irene was a self-taught artist born in Litherland in 1917, first picked up a paintbrush aged 60 then didn’t stop.

These workshops are being funded to ensure people have access and enjoyment of the creative learning opportunities to which Irene was so passionate about.
