Annual School Admission Procedures - September 2019 Entry

The application period for 2019 entry to reception class of primary school and year 7 of secondary education is now open for Knowsley residents.

  • If your child’s birthday falls on or between 1 September 2014 to 31 August 2015 you can apply for a reception class place – the national closing date for applications is 15 January 2019.
  • If your child is currently in Year 6 at primary school, now is the time to apply for your secondary place – the national closing date for applications is 31 October 2018.
The Knowsley application is for use by Knowsley residents only, if you live in another authority you must apply on your home authority’s application, but you can name primary and secondary schools in Knowsley as preferences if you wish.
The Local Authority produce a composite prospectus (Information for Parents) which provides detailed information to guide parents/carers through the admissions process. Before applying for your primary (reception class) place or secondary school place for September 2019, please read the relevant Information for Parents Booklet:

Applying online

To make an online application, you will need to create a user account giving your details.  To do this you will need an email account.
Create an account and apply online.
When your application has been completed and submitted, you should receive a confirmation email.  Please keep this email as proof that you have submitted an application.  If for any reason you do not receive an email confirming submission, please contact Knowsley school admissions.

Paper applications

Please complete the application in the back of the relevant Information for Parents booklet and return by post to Knowsley School Admissions to the address on the form or by hand to a Knowsley Primary School. You should be issued with a receipt to confirm your application has been received. If you do not receive a receipt within 14 days of submission, please contact Knowsley School Admissions.

Junior School transfer
The Admissions Team also co-ordinate the annual transfer to year 3 in St Margaret Mary's Catholic Junior School. Information in relation to this process will be sent directly to parents/carers of all year 2 pupils attending St Margaret Mary's Catholic Infant School during the Autumn first half term. Parents/carers of children attending other infant/primary schools may also wish to apply. Applications can be made using the online application facility or by contacting the School Admissions Team to request a paper application form.

The closing date for junior transfer applications to this school is 15 January 2019.

Supplementary forms for faith primary schools
Some Knowsley Church of England primary schools have a supplementary form that you may need to complete if you wish your application to be considered under certain criteria of the admission policy.  These forms are available below for parents/carers to download and complete and should be returned directly to the individual school/s by the closing date of 15 January 2019.  Any supplementary form completed must be in addition to the relevant home local authority application form.  Please refer to the 2019/20 Primary Admissions Booklet or contact the individual school directly for more information.
If you are resident in another authority area and are naming a Knowsley Catholic primary or secondary school as a preference, your home authority application form may not request all the relevant faith information required by Knowsley Catholic schools to apply their policies. Parents/carers may download and complete the primary or secondary Catholic school supplementary form and returning them directly to the Knowsley Catholic primary/secondary school/s you are applying for by the relevant closing date.
