Secondary school transfer (Year 7 admission)

The national application deadline for 2020 secondary school transfer​ (Year 7 places) has now passed.

Parents and carers who wish to submit a late application or request a change of preference should contact Knowsley School Admissions for further advice or refer to the information provided in the 'Secondary Education Admissions' information booklet which is available to download from this page:

Secondary school allocation results will be released on Monday 2 March 2020 - letters will be posted to all Knowsley resident applicants by first class post on this date and should arrive within three working days.

Online applicants will receive an e-mail or can log into the parent portal on Monday 2 March 2020 to receive their allocation result - a link will be provided on this page to access the parent portal nearer the time.

Primary school admission (Reception classes)

The application period for 2020 entry to reception class of primary school is currently open for Knowsley residents.

If your child’s birthday falls on or between 1 September 2015 to 31 August 2016 you can apply for a reception class place – the national closing date for applications is 15 January 2020.

The Knowsley application is for use by Knowsley residents only, if you live in another authority you must apply on your home authority’s application, but you can name primary and secondary schools in Knowsley as preferences if you wish.
The Local Authority produce a composite prospectus (Information for Parents) which provides detailed information to guide parents/carers through the admissions process. Before applying for your primary (reception class) place or secondary school place for September 2020, please read the relevant Information for Parents Booklet:

Applying online

To make an online application, you will need to create a user account. To do this you will need an email account.

When your application has been completed and submitted, you should receive a confirmation email. Please keep this email as proof that you have submitted an application. If for any reason you do not receive an email confirming submission, please contact Knowsley school admissions.

Paper applications

Please complete the application in the back of the relevant Information for Parents booklet and return by post to Knowsley School Admissions to the address on the form or by hand to a Knowsley Primary School. You should be issued with a receipt to confirm your application has been received. If you do not receive a receipt within 14 days of submission, please contact Knowsley School Admissions.

Junior school transfer

The Admissions Team also co-ordinate the annual transfer to year 3 in St Margaret Mary's Catholic Junior School. Information in relation to this process will be sent directly to parents/carers of all year 2 pupils attending St Margaret Mary's Catholic Infant School during the Autumn first half term. Parents/carers of children attending other infant/primary schools may also wish to apply. Applications can be made using the online application facility or by contacting the School Admissions Team to request a paper application form.

The closing date for junior transfer applications to this school is Wednesday 15 January 2020.

Supplementary forms for faith primary schools

Knowsley Catholic and Church of England primary schools have a supplementary form that ALL APPLICANTS need to complete if they wish their application to be considered under certain criteria of the admission policy. These forms are available directly from the individual schools or can be found on the Supplementary Information Forms section of this website.
