Admission to Primary School (Reception Classes and Junior School) – National Offer Day

Primary school allocation results will be released on the national offer date of Tuesday 16 April 2019.

  • Allocation letters will be posted to all Knowsley resident applicants by first class post on 16 April 2019.
  • Those who applied using a paper application form must wait for their allocation letter to arrive by post – this could be up to three (3) working days.
  • Online applicants should receive an email confirming their child’s allocation result – this will be sent at approximately 9am on 16 April 2019 to the email address stated in the application account - if no email has been received by 10am, please check your spam and junk folder before contacting the Admissions team with your query.
  • Alternatively, online applicants may wish to login to the parent portal after 9am on 16 April 2019 to see the offer status of their school preferences – you will require the email address and password used to create your account in order to login.

Please note:

  • To protect your personal data, the Admissions Team will not typically give out allocation results over the telephone until it is clear that the allocation letter/email has not arrived within the expected timeframes. Allocation information discussed by telephone will normally only be with the parent/carer who made the application and security checks will apply.
  • The Admissions Team experience a high volume of telephone and email queries following national offer dates. Your patience is appreciated and we will aim to respond to any allocation related queries within 3 working days.
  • Any late or change of preference applications received after 16 April 2019 will not be processed until week commencing Monday 29 April 2019.

General Advice and Guidance

More information that may assist with your query is provided below and in the relevant primary/secondary education information booklet which are available to download from the links below – these include information in respect of making a late application, requesting a change of preference and the appeals process.

  • Knowsley Primary Education Admissions - composite prospectus (PDF)
  • Knowsley Secondary Education Admissions - composite prospectus (PDF)
  • Where a place has been offered in a Knowsley School, there is no requirement to formally accept the place – it is assumed that your child will take up this placement in September.
  • If, for any reason, your child no longer requires the place you should contact Knowsley School Admissions without delay to confirm this and the reason why the place is not required.
  • The Local Authority will not typically withdraw places once they are offered unless it is confirmed that alternative education provision is in place for the child or in the circumstance that false information has been used to gain placement at an oversubscribed school.

Refusals

Where you have been refused a higher preference school than that allocated, your child’s name will normally be placed on a waiting list for the school where a place has been refused, Waiting lists will remain open until December 2019. You also have the right to appeal against any refusal decision to an independent appeal panel.

Appeals

Your allocation letter will contain more information regarding the appeals process – if you wish to lodge an appeal against the refusal of a Knowsley school, the following procedures apply:

  • Community Primary Schools: please request an appeal form from the school admissions team stating which school your appeal is for.
  • Academies/Church of England Schools: please contact the individual school directly to request an appeal form.
  • Catholic schools: please contact the Liverpool Archdiocese on (0151) 522 1071, alternatively visit the Archdiocese of Liverpool Appealing for a School Place website.

Appeals timetable

For more information regarding the appeals timetable, please take a look at our Schools Admission Appeals Timetable on the council's website.
