Consultation on School Admission Arrangements 2020/21

The local authority is currently considering the admission arrangements for pupils entering nursery classes, reception classes and Year 7 of community primary schools and those primary and secondary academies in the borough who are adopting the local authority admission policy for entry in 2020/21.

Consultation on the proposed policies and admission numbers will start on 13 December 2018 and closes on 31 January 2019.


Please note:
  • In response to Department for Education guidance, the Local Authority is proposing to amend criterion 1 of its oversubscription criteria to include children adopted from state care outside of England.
  • The Multi Academy Trust that governs Park View Primary Academy in Huyton are proposing a reduction in their planned admission number to 30 effective from 2020/21 entry – a statement from the MAT is included within the consultation documents.

Parents/carers of school-age children and relevant pre-schoolers and community groups who may have an interest are invited to submit their views on the proposals.

In addition, some voluntary aided primary and secondary schools and Academy Primary Schools (Catholic, Church of England and joint faith) are consulting on their own individual policies, these should be available on the individual school website and by request from the individual school.

Also available to view are the co-ordinated admission schemes for the annual allocation of reception class places and transfer from primary to secondary school for 2020/21.

These schemes give the practical arrangements of the admissions process.
