Stay safe from accidental fires in the garden when using barbecues or chimeneas this summer.

Before using a barbecue

  • Check the gas cylinder for damage.
  • Make sure the hose is correctly connected and not damaged.
  • Place the barbecue on a flat surface away from combustible materials.
  • Never light a barbecue indoors or inside a tent.
  • Keep the grill supervised and switch off gas barbecues after use.

When using a barbecue or chimenea 

  • Do not cook food while under the influence of alcohol.
  • Keep children and pets away from cooking appliances.
  • Only use correct lighting methods, such as a firelighter.
  • Never use petrol or accelerants.

After using a barbecue or chimenea

  • Let the barbecue or chimenea cool down completely before disposing of ashes.
