Planning Policy Documents (PP)

Unitary Development Plan
The Knowsley Replacement Unitary Development Plan (UDP) was adopted in 2006. Under the transitional arrangements for moving to the Local Plan system the council ‘saved’ all but four of the 82 individual UDP policies, the ‘saved’ policies will remain in place until, in most cases, they are replaced by new policies in the Local Plan. Some individual policies in the UDP may be saved for a longer period if they are still considered to be up-to-date.

Merseyside and Halton Joint Waste Local Plan
The Merseyside and Halton Joint Waste Local Plan has been prepared by the Merseyside Environmental Advisory Service (MEAS) for Halton, Knowsley, Liverpool, Sefton, St Helens and Wirral Councils and sets out the planning strategy for the sustainable management of waste across the sub region. It includes site allocations for waste management uses and is a constituent part of each district’s Local Plan.

Supplementary Planning Documents
A series of Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs) have been produced which will support and provide further detail, where necessary, on the policies set out in the Core Strategy and other parts of the Local Plan.

The council's more recently adopted SPD's can be found here

Knowsley Local Development Scheme

The Local Development Scheme (LDS) sets out information on the range of planning policy documents to be produced by the council, including timetables for the production of Local Plan documents. The LDS has been updated at several points during the development of the Core Strategy.

Knowsley Statement of Community Involvement
The Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) sets out the Council's standards for public and stakeholder engagement in preparing new planning policies, and determining planning applications.

Knowsley Monitoring Reports
The Council is required to produce a Monitoring Report to assess progress in addressing the key economic, social and environmental issues facing Knowsley, as well as the performance and effectiveness of the adopted planning policies. Under the old LDF system it was known as the Annual Monitoring Report (AMR) and was published annually every December. The annual publication of the Monitoring Report will continue under the new Local Plan system.

Implementation and Monitoring Reports relating to the Joint Merseyside and Halton Waste Local Plan are available on the Merseyside Environmental Advisory Service website.
Draft Supplementary Planning Documents and Draft LDO
The Council has prepared a series of Draft Supplementary Planning Documents addressing issues of design, and a draft Local Development Order for Knowsley Industrial and Business Parks.
