Knowsley MBC operates two air quality monitoring stations within the borough.
All stations monitor the following pollutants
- Nitrogen Oxides (NOX)
- Particulate Matter less than 10 µm (PM10)
- Particulate matter less than 2.5 µm (PM2.5)

The air quality monitoring station located at Briery Hey Avenue in Kirkby was decommissioned on 3 November 2017 due the proposed redevelopment of the neighbouring site.
